Introducing the Foundation
Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has concentrated its efforts on trying to make an impact on the lives of single homeless people in Greater London and those who are vulnerable to homelessness.
We aim to be proactive in our support of frontline agencies tackling homelessness. The Foundation is led by an Executive Director (Kevin Ireland), during 2005/06 the sole employee of the Foundation, with further assistance provided by a range of commissioned advisers and consultants. The (non-executive) Directors of the Foundation also bring a wide range of experience of the problems of homelessness, housing and organisational development as a result of their professional involvement in relevant fields.
During 2005/06 the Foundation’s policy was to make grants to homelessness organisations and to assist with the following:
- improving the efficiency and effectiveness of voluntary organisations tackling single homelessness in the Capital
- research and other support to respond to emerging issues and identify innovative approaches in tackling homelessness
- the provision of affordable office space.
