For 2007/08 the Foundation plans to retain the same grants programmes as for 2006/07, but will also commence a major strategic review during the year. The Private Rented Sector grants programme and its associated knowledge base and influencing programme will continue to be a major element of the Foundation’s work and we expect to see significant developments during 2007/08, including the launch of a dedicated website. We will continue with grants for organisational strengthening and also for research and to meet special needs.
Under the Impact Programme we will continue the strong element of training, education and support that has become a hallmark of the Foundation. Our outcomes work will remain at the heart of this programme and we aim to support agencies in ensuring rollout of our SP outcomes framework in the maximum number of London local authority areas. We will also be seeking to support agencies in exploring and learning how to use more effectively the outcomes data they collect in improving service delivery. We have established an exit strategy for this work - to take effect in March 2009 - and we will begin to work with others during the year on succession planning, to ensure that the benefits built up over several years are not lost when the Foundation ceases its work in this area.
We will investigate the needs and opportunities for a new investment in leadership development, with the prospect of launching this within or at the end of the year. Beyond a Helpline will complete its second and final year. Two of the original 11 participating agencies withdrew at the end of year one, due to merging with larger organisations, and a further agency joined for the final year of the pilot. We will plan for the dissemination of the lessons of Beyond a Helpline, which will be drawn from its evaluation and will investigate the possibility of promoting the model for adoption elsewhere within the voluntary sector in the UK. We will also offer a free seminar on improving HR management to non-participating agencies.
In May 2007 an unsolicited offer was received by the Directors of the trading subsidiary for the Bramah House office building. After taking professional advice and reviewing the market, the Directors agreed to a sale for £7m which was completed in June 2007. The sale was not part of the future plans, however the Trustees believe that the realisation of the capital value and its reinvestment will provide longer term financial benefits.
