Description of Services
New Horizon Youth Centre was established in 1968 to meet the needs of young drug takers in London's West End. Over the past thirty-two years it has evolved into being a well-regarded centre working with young homeless people who face a wide variety of challenges in their lives. Our ethos is to accept any young person who approaches or is referred to us, we will then strive to provide the most appropriate support.
We work with young people aged between 16 and 21 years old: some have issues with their drug or alcohol use, some earn a living in the sex industry that thrives in and around Kings Cross, a large proportion have been in the care of social services. All have been drawn into a lifestyle that is dangerous and one that offers few alternatives. New Horizon Youth Centre endeavours to offer these young people some alternatives and hope.
Purpose of Grant
Two separate grants were awarded to help New Horizon develop an outcomes management system. The first grant of £3,000 was awarded to fund a scoping study to explore their needs and possibilities and the second to develop the new systems. By focusing on outcomes, New Horizons will be able to measure the impact of their interventions with young people and identify how they can work more effectively with those who need their help the most.
