Description of organisation
Off the Street and Into Work (OSW) is the largest co-ordinated guidance, training and employment programme for the homeless in Europe. We are a registered charity that in practice works through real partnership - in particular involving our 'provider partners' who deliver the services that we fund and contract. Through a small central team we gain funding (SRB, ESF, charitable trusts, etc), contract services, monitor and manage those contracts and - crucially - get our providers to work together and integrate their services to the benefit of the homeless population in London.
Purpose of the grant
In August 2000, we were awarded £27,550 from LHF as matchfunding contribution to our Capacity building programme (ESF Priority 4 - Homeless agencies programme). The aim was to support our employment and training programme for homeless clients, through a range of capacity building initiatives for homeless sector agencies and their staff, in particular: guidance and tutor training, staff exchange and work shadowing, soft indicator development.
Outcomes/results of activities funded with the grant
16 homeless agencies staff trained in tutor and guidance training 40 homeless agencies staff involved in staff exchange/work shadowing 4 guides and manuals produced.
