The Kipper Project

1. Description of The Kipper Project

The Kipper Project aims to prevent homelessness amongst young people, aged 16 to 25 years, in the East End of London.  It achieves this by: working in partnership with a diverse range of housing and other support providers; ensuring that the range of services offered is tailor made to each individual young person and aiming to resettle every young homeless person successfully into the community.

Supported Housing Schemes: Medium stay accommodation in seven supported housing schemes providing accommodation for a total of 42 young people, at any one time.
Post Tenancy Support Service: This service assists young people who are moving on from Kipper into their own independent accommodation as well as young people who are living independently but are at risk of losing their tenancies.
Outreach and Resettlement Service: This service offers housing advice to young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, from a number of satellite sites across Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham and Waltham Forest.  The team provides access to emergency, medium and long stay accommodation.
East London Links: A collaborative project with Homerton Space Project and Step Up involving a shared fundraiser raising funds for each agency and developing joint initiatives.
Training Education and Employment Project:  An East London Links partnership project with Homerton Space Project and Step Up which supports young people to access a range of education, training and employment opportunities.
