As part of the IMPACT through Leadership Programme, the London Housing Foundation provides a limited number of bursaries for study visits in the UK or overseas. Four bursaries have been awarded under this programme so far and reports describing the learning gained from each trip are available to download from this page. The most recent include a visit to Utrecht to attend a conference on their model of community care and associated issues and to Copenhagen to look at an alternate style of day provision for homeless people.

In March 2006 the Foundation sponsored five people to attend a conference in Utrecht and to investigate their model of 'community care' for the interrelated issues of homelessness, street population, drug addiction, street drinking, asylum seekers and prostitution. Three people from Broadway and two from the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham attended, including Howard Sinclair, the Chief Executive of Broadway, who made a presentation on tackling homelessness in London. A report of this visit and the learning and action points can be found at: 'Community Care in Utrecht'.
This report comes from Off the Streets and Into Work who visited the Kofoed’s Skole in Copenhagen with representatives from three London day centres - St Giles Trust, The Passage and New Horizon Youth Centre. The aim of the visit was to explore an alternative model of delivery and examples of good practice in day centre provision. Download a report of the visit to the Kofeod's Skole.
A report is also available of a visit by staff from St Mungo's and Thames Reach to Association Julienne Javel in Besancon, France. This visit investigated the French model of social enterprise linked to training for homeless people and draws conclusions for agencies working in Britain. The first bursaried study visit took place in 2003 when a team of agencies visited New York. Click here to download the report of this successful New York study visit.
