Leadership Overview

The Leadership Programme

The London Housing Foundation has a tradition of supporting leadership development within the homelessness sector in London. Between 1995 and 1999 some 66 individuals and their organisations benefited from attending the 'Homeless Agencies Leadership Programme' (HALP). This 12 month course was developed by the Office for Public Management (OPM) and accredited by Sheffield Hallam University. Many of these individuals also attended a programme of an annual summer schools for HALP graduates, held at Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park.

Leadership development was relaunched as part of the IMPACT programme in November 2002, when 27 senior managers for homelessness agencies participated in a residential course over three days. Specially designed by OPM, this focused on stimulating leadership potential and developing the capacity of agency and sector leaders to manage change effectively.

Current initiatives include a pilot programme of bursaries to learn from experience overseas and a series of 'employability masterclasses' run by OSW.
