The Foundation’s response was to establish a two-year pilot scheme - Beyond a Helpline, which ran from April 2006 to March 2008. Broadway, with their award-winning HR department, was selected to deliver the scheme on the Foundation’s behalf.
Broadway’s position paper, Human Resources Management and Employee Engagement: A Needs Statement, is published by the Foundation. Informative and engaging, it sets out the theory and research behind the need to invest adequately in HR.
In the paper, the authors explore the ways in which positive people-management practices lead to greater employee engagement, and how this in turn leads to increased productivity. They go on to offer pragmatic guidance on putting the principles into practice.
Finally, supported by the evidence presented, they conclude that the long-term financial and non-financial rewards more than justify the investment.
