Grants awarded under the new grants criteria
Examples of recent and current support given and initiatives funded by the Foundation under its new funding strategy:
- Producing an “atlas” of the sector, giving details of the location of all services and which agencies provide them. We have now commissioned further research, this time on the financial health of the sector. If this study highlights any financial issues, either sector wide or specific, then the Foundation will look at how our resources can best assist.
- Working with a group of day centres to formulate a programme to enable all 57 day centres in London to promote the day centre sub-sector, help it develop greater cohesiveness, and increase its impact. A series of targeted events will be mounted at which all agencies in the field will be welcome.
- Funding advice to enable two mergers between agencies to take place. This advice includes merger planning, facilitating board co-operation, consultation with stakeholders and senior recruitment.
- A research project aimed at the sector building its knowledge base about how individual clients make successful transitions, including what works for which clients; what the critical success factors are; and what agencies need to have in place to achieve the greatest progress for the maximum number of people.
- A medium term programme with an agency in the sector that wishes to expand the scope of its activities. Funding specific additional staffing resources, and providing consultancy for a business model review, long range strategic planning and organisational development.
