Six projects working with homeless people have been shortlisted for the 13th Andy Ludlow Homelessness Awards and will win a share of more than £50,000.
Services provided by shortlisted projects include 3* hotel-style accommodation for the homeless, teaching literacy to homeless people with poor reading skills and helping rough sleepers off the streets by allocating a budget tailored to each individual.
The shortlist includes projects involving local authority housing departments, voluntary organisations and the NHS in London. The winner will win £25,000, with £10,000 going to each of the two runners up. Three shortlisted organisations will win £2,000 each. A condition of the awards is that prizes are invested back into the winning scheme.
The London Housing Foundation was gratified to see a high volume of quality applications and is especially pleased to see the calibre of applications for its own one-off
21st Anniversary prize, the winner of which will be announced later in the year.
London Councils executive member for housing, Mayor Sir Steve Bullock said:
“The standard of entries was excellent this year with numerous examples of good practice, innovation and significant achievements - which is a credit to all working in the sector.
“These six groups stood out in particular because of their innovative approaches to tackling the huge problem of homelessness in London. We hope that other groups both in the capital and nationally will benefit from learning about these new approaches and wish those shortlisted the very best of luck!”
