The London Housing Foundation does not provide accommodation or services directly to homeless people ourselves, but we can help you identify where to go.

Listed below are the key organisations providing emergency help and housing advice to people who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless, along with helplines that provide advice and support.

Shelter

  • Provides help to people throughout the UK who are homeless or need housing advice. They are the first port of call for anyone concerned about a housing issue.

London Street Rescue Service

  • www.streetrescue.org
  • If you or someone you know is sleeping rough, the London Street Rescue service will do their best to help you or them off the streets and into emergency accommodation. They may refer you to another organisation.

Get advice and support

CHAS Central London

  • www.chascl.org.uk
  • Independent, free advice on housing and debt
  • Advice line: 020 7723 5928
  • Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm; Thursday 10.00 am to 1.00 pm
  • No drop-in service, but you may call to arrange an appointment with an adviser.

Homeless London

  • This website provides details of all residential and non-residential services for homeless people in London. You can search for information on specific services or by area. It also provides advice if you are about to become homeless.

Piccadilly Advice Centre

  • Drop in service - Mondays to Fridays, 5.00pm - 8.30pm, and Saturdays and Sundays, 10.00am - 1.30pm

Refuge - National Domestic Violence Helpline

  • A 24-hour freephone helpline that offers advice and helps find emergency accommodation for women and children escaping domestic abuse
  • Helpline: 0808 2000 247

Samaritans Counselling

  • www.samaritans.org.uk
  • Samaritans is available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide

Asylum Seekers and Refugees

  • Refugee Council
  • London advice line: 020 7346 6777
  • Opening hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 10 am – 1 pm and 2 – 4 pm, Wednesdays: 2-4 pm.
