Day Centres Workshop

Day Centres WorkshopOn 16 June 2009, 40 representatives from 22 of London’s day centres took part in a workshop hosted by the London Housing Foundation to discuss the future of day centres in the capital. By the end of the day, delegates had agreed a set of draft service standards to enhance their work and promote the day centre sector to funders, local authorities and communities. These standards are the subject of ongoing consultation: it is hoped to launch the final version early in 2010.

Centres sending delegates included the very largest but also a number of smaller and volunteer-led centres. Seven delegates were day centre users, including members of Brent Homeless User Group (BHUG), ensuring that users’ views were well represented. Homeless Link also participated, offering a perspective from the wider homelessness sector.
