22nd February 2011
The 2010 winner of the Andy Ludlow award was The London Pathway, for their pioneering model of integrated healthcare for single homeless people. The directors of the London Housing Foundation all agreed that this was an exciting project that could potentially be replicated throughout the country.
In addition to the Ludlow award prize money, they therefore decided to fund the project further to enable it to expand and focus on better quality healthcare for homeless people, both in hospital and after discharge. The LHF is particularly keen to follow progress in the areas of healthcare nurse practitioners and care navigators, both helping to support patients to plan for life after hospital.
This is the second winning project to have received additional funding from the LHF. In 2008 Streetwise Opera were awarded a grant to help strengthen the social (as opposed to artistic) aspects of their work. The LHF has complemented this by offering a “buddying” service to the organisation, whereby an LHF-funded adviser works with the board and senior management to address both strategic and management challenges.
