Turbulence Ahead Seminar
On 23rd November 2010, we hosted a morning seminar for board members and chief executives at
The King’s Fund
to look in detail at some of the key changes in the environment and
what they mean for smaller organisations, and examine the benefits and
costs of collaboration between agencies, including shared services,
mergers and group structures in the sector. Sessions included:
- The view through the windscreen: what’s the weather got in store for us? An overview of the current climate with discussion on the challenging times ahead.
- Reading the dials: how near are we, ourselves, to danger? The analysis of key financial ratios within the sector (Navigator) and how to use them.
- Which route out of trouble? The various options and strategies available, discussed with a panel of experts.
The seminar included of a mix of presentations,
discussions and opportunities to define how LHF could help during these
challenging times.
There was also an opportunity for demonstrations of
Navigator
– the financial database recently developed by the Foundation to
provide detailed financial analysis of the homelessness sector and the
organisations in it. Delegates were able to pick up copies of their
individual data and talk to members of the research team.
